Blog 100 years, 100 women

Briony has a family connection to this year's celebrations and in this blog she introduces us to some of the less famous, but equally brave, members of her family.

Gemma introduces us to her mother Sula who was, in the words of Maya Angelou, a Phenomenal Woman who spent her life caring for others. Sadly Sula passed away recently but her spirit lives on in Gemma.

Alma has dedicated her life to public service. Since joining the Civil Service in 1959 she has seen a tremendous amount of changes but is very clear that there is still more she would like to do before she eventually retires!

Jane is passionate about supporting and helping others, not only people in her team but also through her work to ensure that people in vulnerable situations get access to the legal advice.

Kelly-Jo has vivid memories of eating chips with her brothers while her mother worked in the local fish and chip shop. She also says she is blown away by how fascinating other people's life stories are, but we think her own story is pretty interesting too!

Lucy believes that like ogres, people are like onions and that we should celebrate every layer which makes us who we are.

Daxa loves her job as a project manager but really comes alive outside of work.

Kuljit was introduced to gender equality from a young age, reinforced by the fact that in Sikhism women are equal to men in status, role and power. It is therefore no wonder that Kuljit is incredibly passionate about equality and allowing people to be the best they can be.

Andrea has been working in law enforcement for over 22 years, carrying out important additional work to improve diversity in the sector.

Georgia is an Italophile inspired by her incredible Mama.
