Blog 100 years, 100 women

Elizabeth is the first woman to serve as First Parliamentary Counsel. In this blog she talks about the other women breaking glass ceilings and some of the interesting views they came up against!

Tola is utterly dedicated to public service. When shes not working to support the most talented Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) colleagues become future leaders in the Civil Service, she is teaching netball in inner city schools and campaigning for it to become an Olympic sport.

Jan loves the fact that her job allows her to maximise on her passion for equality and fair play, whilst learning about other people and their cultures. She has also realised the value of her mums advice on the benefits of learning to type!

Kirsten is leading the charge to celebrate 100 women in the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and to encourage others to join in she has had to write the first blog first!

Lizz is relatively new to public service and comes with strong backing from all the females in her family!

Sarah has recently had her first academic article published in the Journal of Feminist Media Studies, about discourses and imageries of ageing femininity in Hip-hop.

Julie would like to use her magic wand to keep hold of the progress we have made so far. We think Julie is helping to do this already by being a role model at work and for the students she mentors.

Louise has only been in the Civil Service for a few months but is making the most of her time as part of the Civil Service Netball team and as an Army reservist, all alongside a busy day job at the Home Office!

Roxanne and her job share partner are setting up a new programme to increase ethnic diversity across the Civil Service to make sure that it better reflects the communities we serve.

Elly sees opportunities where others might see challenges. Not only has she forged a career in tax (despite not knowing anything about it when she started) she is using that knowledge to work on a truly challenging piece of policy, alongside running the cross-government women's network! She's a very busy lady!
