Blog 100 years, 100 women

Julia joined the civil service after realising that equality and public service are what makes her tick. This blog also includes a book review from Julia's daughter, who is clearly another generation in the Maguire family advocating for equality.

Bernadette never seems to stop. Aside from her important role driving inclusion in the Civil Service, in her spare time she also helps BAME colleagues and communities, volunteers and sings at church, all while being a self defined semi-tiger mum! Phew!

Zoë picked up on gender inequality from a young age and is now using her role at the Department for Work and Pensions to make sure that our digital services are inclusive and make things easier for people.

Loraine continually tries to challenge herself, building up her skill set over the course of her career. She was awarded an MBE for her charitable and professional work in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Flavie has achieved a lot. Not only is she highly educated, she has also led a successful academic career and since joining the Civil Service has demonstrated her commitment to achieving gender equality.

Jo is passionate about science, something she picked up from her mother, and is making sure that she is a positive role model for her 2 daughters.

Eva has a real passion for equality, having chaired Women's Networks in Defra and now the Department for Education. She still has not quite reached her childhood ambition of telling the Prime Minister what to say.... yet

Keela is leading the cross-government celebrations of the centenary of the Representation of the People's Act. 2018 is proving to be a very special year as Keela also was awarded an MBE for services to equality in the workplace in the Queen's Birthday honours.
