My mother was a…
Fearless woman of god, who considered becoming a nun or a fashion designer. Luckily for me she met my dad in Trinidad and changed her mind, no doubt swayed by his good looks, intellect and wicked sense of humour. My mum taught me to accept people regardless of their differences and to be kind and thoughtful at all times.
Me in a paragraph
I am passionate, determined, positive and open minded. I love to travel, bake and spend time with my family and friends. I love laughing almost as much as I like organising things! When I am not at work I can be found baking cakes and planning my next new project.
My role
I lead the Competition and Markets Authority’s strategic marketing communications function. I direct a small team and my job is varied. Each day is different, you might find me interviewing for new team members, attending an agency status update meeting, commissioning and/or reviewing research, guiding the team’s product development, delivering a speech at a conference or meeting stakeholders.
I like working on intellectually challenging issues and enjoy the opportunity that a tough task offers to those willing to innovate and challenge. I don’t like unnecessary bureaucracy or gradeism. I will treat you as I find you.
If I had a magic wand, what I would do to accelerate gender equality?
Offer a more flexible childcare offer in every government department.

STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS by Joyce Johnson Rouse
I am standing on the shoulders of the ones who came before me
I am stronger for their courage, I am wiser for their words
I am lifted by their longing for a fair and brighter future
I am grateful for their vision, for their toiling on this Earth
We are standing on the shoulders of the ones who came before us
They are saints and they are humans, they are angels, they are friends
We can see beyond the struggles and the troubles and the challenge
When we know that by our efforts things will be better in the end
They lift me higher than I could ever fly
Carrying my burdens away
I imagine our world if they hadn't tried
We wouldn't be here celebrating today
I am standing on the shoulders of the ones who came before me
I am honored by their passion for our liberty
I will stand a little taller, I will work a little longer
And my shoulders will be there to hold the ones who follow me
